Naugatuck Valley Radiology Services

Naugatuck Valley Radiology (NVRA) offers a wide range of high-quality, affordable imaging services in Waterbury, Prospect, and Southbury.

Radiology is an important branch of medicine that provides doctors, surgeons, and other medical professionals with the information they need to diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries. Radiologists and technologists  use sophisticated equipment to create images of the organs and tissues inside the body.

The radiologists at NVRA use various digital diagnostic imaging techniques to help provide timely and accurate information about a patient’s health.

These techniques include:

  • 3D Digital Mammography. A highly sensitive breast cancer screening test allows radiologists to examine breast tissue layer by layer; mammography prep is the same as regular mammography.
  • Arthrography. Arthrography helps doctors evaluate joint problems, especially in the shoulder, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle.
  • Bone Densitometry (DEXA). Measures bone mass to help doctors diagnose and monitor osteoarthritis and other conditions affecting bone density; DEXA scan images help doctors evaluate a person’s risk for a bone fracture.
  • Computed Tomography (CT). Combines X-rays and computers to create 3D images of internal organs; CT scan reading helps doctors assess the structure and function of organs.
  • Echocardiography. Echocardiography is an ultrasound study of the heart.
  • Image-guided biopsies. Image-guided biopsies create images that help doctors remove small amounts of tissue for examination in a laboratory.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Uses large magnets to create detailed images of organs and tissues inside the body; an open MRI has more space.
  • Ultrasound. Ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of organs and tissues; ultrasound quality assurance measures ensure the best imaging possible.
  • Vein treatment. A variety of procedures to treat diseased veins; vein treatments include laser vein treatment, sclerotherapy, Varithena, and foam sclerotherapy.
  • X-ray. Doctors use x-rays to produce images of bones and some internal organs.
