Arthrography

Arthrographic images help healthcare providers evaluate alterations in structure and function of a joint and help determine the possible need for treatment, including surgery or joint replacement. The procedure is most often used to identify abnormalities and to help diagnose persistent, unexplained joint pain or discomfort within the:

  • Shoulder
  • Wrist
  • Hip
  • Knee
  • Ankle

Arthrography is done by injecting contrast material into the joint. The images are usually obtained by CT or MRI depending on your medical history and how your healthcare provider orders the exam.
